Get to Know Marie Castronuovo
Marie Castronuovo handles New York Labor Law and premises liability cases through all phases of litigation, including discovery, making and arguing discovery motions and motions for summary judgment, negotiating and mediating settlements, trial, and appellate proceedings. “We handle the entire thing from soup to nuts,” she says. She regularly defends insurance carriers and cleaning contractors in premises liability cases. She has extensive experience in New York Labor Law, defending corporations and contractors in construction site accident claims.
Marie worked in-house with Atlantic Mutual for 18 years before joining Russo & Gould in 2007, where she found she already knew some of the trial team. “As large as New York City is, there’s still a fairly small group of attorneys who are constantly in the courthouses and attend different conferences, Defense Association dinners, New York State Bar dinners, so you know each other from working the files and meeting at the various court houses,” she says.
Marie is a graduate of the National Institute of Trial Advocacy and a member of the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance. Prior to focusing on liability, Marie held a limited license to practice law in a legal clinic in Washington State, where she served indigent and elderly clients and helped to lay the foundation for a mediation and arbitration center in Spokane.
A mother of four young adults and a published freelance writer, Marie is equally busy outside of her law practice. She regularly runs groups for writers and served as President and was on the board of a New Jersey-based women’s writers collective. She also volunteers weekly at a local community center/used bookstore that holds events and author readings.
