David Gould obtained a unanimous defense verdict in the Lenin A. Mejia and Ellen J. Mazariegos v. Mary Taylor and Brian C. Taylor case, Supreme Court Suffolk County Index Number 618336/2019 before Judge Alita V. Fields on February 16, 2024. The plaintiffs were stopped in traffic on April 1, 2019, in Huntington when the defendant Mary Taylor hit their vehicle in the rear.  The defense conceded liability and the case was tried solely on damages. Each plaintiff underwent a percutaneous discectomy and Mr. Mejia also underwent a right wrist arthroscopy. Mr. Gould successfully argued that the impact to their vehicle was too slight to have necessitated these surgeries. The jury found that neither plaintiff sustained “serious injuries.”
